In the physical world, we are used to the order and the chronology of time.
We have the past, present, and future.
The past is a timeframe that we cannot access, the present is what we have direct control over, while the future is a result of both the past and the present, so it is unknown.
We know the past, we are experiencing the present, and we don’t know the future.
This is the reality of the natural man in the physical world.
But that time system is not the only one that exists in the Universe.
There is a different system where this logic doesn’t apply.
In fact, you need to accept some form of illogicality to understand it.
It’s a system where the natural logic of time is suspended and gives way to the superiority of a divine system.
For instance, Isaiah 53:5 says
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
This refers to the death of Jesus on the cross.
So when Jesus died 2000+ years ago, that is when we were healed forever.
Now, if you have an ailment, I walk up to you and tell you, ‘You were healed many, many years ago.’
It naturally sounds crazy, but that is the absolute truth.
To think that before you were born or even had any sickness, someone healed your body is mind-boggling.
To understand this, you need to look at time as a stretch of eternity – like an ocean.
When you touch any part of the water, you are making contact with the whole body of water.
If you added any substance to that portion of the water, it diffuses to the entire body.
So in Eternity, both past, present, and future are fused in one – there is no differentiation.
What Jesus did on the cross not only affected the day he died, but it also affected both the past, present, and future.
That is why:
1. That is why patriarchs of faith who lived before Jesus will go to heaven. Their faith in God was counted as righteousness (Romans 4:3), but Jesus still had to pay for their sin because all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) just by being human. This included Abraham and all the old-time believers.
Their sins must be forgiven for them to have access to the Father (Habakkuk 1:3), and the only one to be free from sin is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). They had to wait for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for their Salvation to be fulfilled. When Jesus resurrected, saints who had died before were resurrected.
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Matthew 27:52 -53
2. Those of us living after Jesus can receive salvation, even if we were not alive in the days of Jesus. Because his blood covers eternity.
3. Our sins are forgiven past, present, and future (Heb. 10:12) – and this description is just for our earthly understanding. It is not exactly past, present, and future. Look at the image of the water. If you poured a bottle of red ink into a cup of water, the whole water becomes red – what portion of it is past, present, or future?
The blood of Jesus sits over the whole of eternity, so it doesn’t matter what portion of it you are in.
It’s like a cloud – it is timeless. We can say that the sacrifice of Jesus is like a cloud that envelopes the earth, so anytime or anywhere you can see the cloud, you can access the benefits of Salvation.
4. It is the same reason Jesus could heal the sick before He died, and even people of the Old Testament could receive healing. The legal basis for healing was the Sacrifice of Jesus, his paying for the sin of mankind.
Sickness, disease, or any ailment is a result of the fallen nature of the human body, and that is a consequence of Adam’s sin.
To restore health, the sin that is the cause of the fallen nature must be dealt with.
So technically, nobody should have been healed before Jesus died, including people in His days and those in the Old Testament.
But we saw a lot of healing both in the Old Testament and in the days of Jesus.
Meaning all of the healing was received in advance, looking forward to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
It’s like collecting your salary in advance.
Understanding this will set you free.
It doesn’t matter what your past is, or the current – God can rewrite everything.
He is not limited by time.
The damage caused by time doesn’t restrict God; he can raise the dead – he raised Lazarus.
He can alter your present so it doesn’t look like it was a product of your past.
Everything we ever need for life and godliness, God has made available in Christ Jesus.
This is why all the blessings of God to us are in the past tense – because Jesus did it all.
He said, ‘It is finished’.
The work is already done; all we need to do is to discover what Christ has done and walk in them.
This is a gentle reminder that you are a joint heir with Christ – whether you look like it or not.
In God’s eyes, He sees you as a King, a royalty, because He made you to be so.
He doesn’t see you as a loser or a sinner. He sees you as a righteous one, a royalty born in His image.
God doesn’t look at you as who you are; He sees you as who he made you to be.
He looks at you through the eyes of eternity, not as this world sees.
When he looks at you, He sees beauty and glory because you are in Christ Jesus.
He sees you in Christ because Jesus qualified and justified you.
The more you see through eternity, the better your life will become.
