Story in this passage

Ai is conquered

God tells Joshua not to fear and gives Ai into Israel’s hand. Joshua sets an ambush behind the city, draws the defenders out, and captures Ai. The city is burned, its king is executed, and Israel takes the livestock and spoil as God commanded.
