Balak sends for Balaam

Israel camps in the plains of Moab, and King Balak fears the nation’s strength. He sends representatives to hire Balaam to curse Israel, but God restricts Balaam to speak only what he is given.

Setting
The plains of Moab opposite Jericho, near the end of Israel’s wilderness journey.
